Last Thursday the 28th of May Suaimhneas held afternoon tea to help promote the green ribbon campaign and it was a great success! We were delighted with the response and the turn out on the day – other centres within in EVE , Local business’s and employers such as Mattress Mick, Vice principal of Colaiste Dhulaigh, Mental Health Clinics and local politicians to name a few all turned up to show their support.

As you walked in the door our reception area was decorated with green ribbons and we had an ‘affirmation tree’ displayed – the tree was decorated with flowers and green ribbons along with dozens of positive affirmations.

Half way through the day we had a short presentation where members from Suaimhneas explained what The Green Ribbon Campaign and Suaimhneas was, what Suaimhneas has done for them and some even shared their own personal stories of recovery.

Afternoon Tea was the theme of the event and we made delicious cakes including scones with cream and jam, carrot cake, chocolate shortbread and cupcakes. We also had selections of sandwiches, wraps and pastries. We were delighted to receive so many compliments on the food, It went down a storm! We would like to say a big thank you to our chef Sue along with the catering team who helped prepare the delicious feast.

It kicked off at 11:00am and went on till after 1.30pm, we all enjoyed catching up with familiar faces and meeting new people on the day, We got nothing but positive feedback on the day and all felt really proud to be a part of Suaimhneas.

We really hope this day helped promote mental health awareness, See Change and The Green Ribbon Campaign – Let’s keep the conversation going!
