On Tuesday, Suaimhneas opened late to host a table quiz. Claire was our quiz-master for the evening, asking everything from general knowledge to geography to sport. We could not stop laughing when Claire said ‘get your hands off me you dirty ape’ in the movie quotes round.
The evening was great fun, 3 teams of four entered, The A Team, BMW and The Fantastic Four. It was neck and neck between all three teams throughout but on the last round, the music round, our team The Fantastic Four just got in front. It was a great night and I cannot wait for the next late opening.

To celebrate World Mental Health Day members and staff of Suaimhneas marked the occasion by holding ‘Love in the Club’. This was a celebration of our members and reminder that we need to treat ourselves with love.
The event was very well attended and some great fun was had by all. We are especially proud of our teamwork abilities to create a heart from joining our hands together. Check out the photos below.
Will Captain Standards be able to stop the evil Dr. Chaos causing havoc in Suaimhneas Clubhouse and breaking Standard number 19…?
19. All work in the Clubhouse is designed to help members regain self worth, purpose and confidence; it is not intended to be job specific training.
Last weekend St. Anne’s Park held their annual rose festival and our Allotments opened their doors to the public.
Every year we give our an allotment a theme for the occasion and this year we gave our plot an Alice in Wonderland makeover complete with mad hatter topsy turvy flower pots, a tea party tree and Alice herself jumping down the rabbit hole!

Yesterday we had a great day in EVE Estuary Hub for the Health Ireland Showcase. EVE Services where given a chance to showcase what they have been doing to promote Health and Well-being in their centre. It was an excellent way of meeting new people and sharing ideas!
A series of talks and presentations from centres were given on topics such as Recycling and The Green Flag Award, Sexual Health & LGBTI, Healthy eating and Smoking Cessation plus much more. We found these talks very valuable and they were a great way to get information and spark new ideas.
At the end of the day we were treated to a brilliant performance by the Dublin Pipe Band and after lunch we were given a lion dance lesson which was great fun!
We would like to say a special thank you to the Healthy Ireland working group who clearly put a lot of hard work into the event particularly Estuary Hub who hosted the event. The day was a credit to all involved!
Yesterday Suaimhneas Clubhouse held their Green Ribbon event “Untangle Your Thoughts”. The event took place in St. Anne’s Park in Raheny and was attended by other EVE centres and members of the community. The event was launched by Suaimhneas members Catherine and Liam and Sean Haughey TD, a board member of Suaimhneas. Sean spoke about mental health awareness with Catherine speaking about what Suaimhneas has to offer. Liam explained what the purpose of the day was and invited people to untangle their thoughts!
We would like to thank all the people who made this event possible, especially the members and staff of Suaimhneas Clubhouse, Our esteemed guests Sean Haughey TD, See Change ambassador Shauna O’ Connor and everyone who came along and took part despite the weather!

Dr. Chaos has hired a member to shine his shoes and has awarded him with a trophy for being the “best worker” in the Clubhouse!
Will Captain Standards be able to stop him from breaking Standard 16 before its too late and let the Suaimhneas community know that there should be no pay or artificial award systems in a Clubhouse!
Standard 16: “The work done in the Clubhouse is exclusively the work generated by the Clubhouse in the operation and enhancement of the Clubhouse community. No work for outside individuals or agencies whether for pay or not, is acceptable work in the Clubhouse. Members are not paid for any Clubhouse work, nor are there any artificial award systems.”
Dr. Chaos has abandoned the work-ordered-day and takes a look back at his childhood. He tries to get Staff Member Fiona to give him some advice…Can Captain Standards stop him before its too late and save Fiona from Dr. Chaos’ dastardly ways?
Standard 15: “The work-ordered-day engages members and staff together side-by-side in the running of the Clubhouse. The Clubhouse focus on strengths, talents and abilities, therefore the work-ordered-day must not include medication clinics, day treatment or therapy programmes within the Clubhouse”
Dr. Choas is being a bit of a diva and has branded a room “Staff Only” and is not letting members in…Find out how Captain Standards diffuses the situation and once again stops Dr. Chaos from breaking Standard number 14…
Standard 14 Space: “All Clubhouse space is member and staff accessible. There are no staff only or member only spaces.”
