Clubhouse Standards Training in Saol Clubhouse

A number of clubhouses including Saol, Phoenix, Platnium and Conai came together recently for a refresher course in the International Clubhouse standards which is so important for all members and staff not just to attain accreditation but also to remind us that it is important for members and staff to work together on the important issues of good mental health maintenance and recovery.

There were six facilitators which included, Louise from Saol Clubhouse, Liam from Suaimhneas Clubhouse, Carmel and Patrick from Platnium Clubhouse and Niamh and Teresa from Phoenix Clubhouse.

I, John went wih Suaimhneas along with staff Gemma and Fiona with six other members including Liam, Geraldine, Aideen and Robert.  It was a lovely morning with Gemma driving to the far side of Finglas to Saol Clubhouse.

We were all put into groups and allocated to a facilitator – Each facilitator had scenarios for us all relating to the clubhouse standards where we had to decide if it was compliant of non-compliant with the clubhouse standards. It was a fun way of learning and we certainly didn’t get board. The training was well thought out and a lot of effort was put in, We were all really impressed and found it to be very beneficial.

We would like to say a special thank you to Saol Clubhouse for hosting the event and making us all feel so welcome!
